The Ministry of Maritime Affairs predicts a remarkable increase in the docking rate of cruise ships at Piraeus’ piers in 2011. Due to "cabotage" lifting, an increase in programmed cruise ship arrivals this year and the general growing popularity of holiday cruises internationally, 2011 will be the year of a major overhaul of cruise shipping.
The Port of Piraeus is a major destination for cruise ships in the Mediterranean basin, and is also the most affordable port to travel from, in the Mediterranean Sea.
