The Hellenic Statistical Authority announced the provisional results of the General Population and Housing Census 2011, on July 22.
According to the announcement, across the country 10,787,690 residents were enumerated, of whom 5,303,690 men (49.2%) and 5,484,000 women (50.8%). These data are classified as provisional because they are derived from preliminary lists, showing the number of people enumerated in each of the 94 Census Divisions in which the country was divided, rather than from the processing of individual Census questionnaires, which is to follow in the period ahead.
The final results will be available during the second semester of 2012, while detailed results concerning the demographic, economic, and social characteristics of the population will become available periodically, starting at the end of 2012 and continuing through 2013.
