PASOK party leader and Socialist International (SI) president George Papandreou visited Israel where he addressed the 12th Herzilya Conference.

During his visit Papandreou held meetings with Israeli President Shimon Peres and PM Benjamin Netanyahu. Discussions focused on the euro zone crisis and bilateral relations, particularly cooperation in tourism and energy.

Papandreou also met with Palestinian Authority PM Salam Fayyad in Ramallah. In a statement following the meeting, Papandreou stressed Greece’s steadfast support towards resolving the Palestinian issue, and reiterated recent EU decisions for the creation of a Palestinian state.
