An Australian film production company -David Adams Films crew- is currently shooting a documentary about the myth of Jason and the Argonauts expedition. The crew arrived in the city of Volos on June 8 and is filming for 4-5 days to be broadcast by Major TV channels.

The Municipality of Volos is supporting this production, and will subsequently use it to promote the area. The departure of the Argo ship from Volos will be the first scene of the documentary. According to the ancient myth, there were 40-55 Argonauts on board.

The Australian company asked for the contribution of the local rowers’ association "Argonauts 2008," and aims to recreate the conditions that existed during the time of the mythical journey: the rowers will all be wearing costumes simulating the style of that era.

The ship will sail as far as Afissos and, filming will continue on the small islands in the region, Trikeri and Agia Kyriaki, and various locations in south Pelion before returning to Volos.
