The festival celebrates the anniversary of the Cuban revolution on July 26, 1956 and includes screenings of key films from this period.

Some of the most important ones are the Death of a Bureaucrat by Tomas Gutierrez Alea, a film that satirizes the monster of bureaucracy in a Kafkian environment and the Cuban Story by Victor Pahlem, which recounts how Castro came to power, a unique film starring Hollywood favourite Errol Flynn, an Havana lover and staunch supporter of the Fidel Castro.
