The first Athens World Music Festival is here, inviting Athens residents and guests to a five-day journey to ethnic music.

Starting today (July 16), 25 bands, 30 soloists and over 100 musicians will be on stage at the Athens Technopolis venue. Workshops, exhibitions and other parallel activities will be held at different venues from Syntagma to Gazi, including events in archaeological sites.

The programme features artists from all over the world, with a special emphasis on Mediterranean and Balkan music.

The festival will close curtains on July 20, with a special event featuring the Athens Symphony Orchestra accompanying singers and soloists from the festival programme.
