Finance Minister Yiannis Stournaras met yesterday with the US Treasury Assistant Secretary for International Finance Charles Collyns, who travelled to Athens as part of a European visit to Greece and Italy.
Stournaras briefed Collyns on the course of the Greek economy, the ministry’s priorities in the coming months and the government’s privatization programme.
On his part, Collyns expressed the support of the United States to Greece and his confidence that the Greek efforts will bear fruits, stressing particularly the US interest in Greece’s privatization programme. Collyns also met with the Deputy Finance Minister George Mavraganis with whom he discussed issues related to the tax system and the efficiency of revenue collection.
