By the end of 2015, the public sector in Greece will have 600,000 employees, reduced by about 1/3, since 2009, and the total wage cost will have been drastically cut, Minister of Administrative Reform and e-Government Antonis Manitakis said on September 19.

Delivering a speech titled The thorny path of administrative reform in Greece, at an event organised by the Union of Belgian companies operating in Greece, Manitakis outlined the efforts underway to streamline public administration in Greece, such as the evaluation of structures as well as of personnel, that would lead to a considerable reduction in state entities and the adoption of new organizational charts, the simplification of administrative procedures and the adoption of measures to tackle red tape and corruption.
