Prime Minister Antonis Samaras met yesterday with European Commission Vice-president and Commissioner for Industry and Entrepreneurship Antonio Tajani, as well as EU Commissioner for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Maria Damanaki, who are currently on an official visit in Athens.

At a joint press conference that was held at the premises of the European Commission Representation Office in Athens, Tajani stressed that "there is no Europe without Greece nor Greece without Europe," sending a clear message for the course of the European Union and the country, as well as a message of solidarity with the Greek people.

On her part, Damanaki spoke about the forthcoming initiative on Coastal and Maritime Tourism, noting that "it will be important to create the conditions for innovation, enhance skills and give visibility to quality products, in a sector that is very important in Europe and can be determinant for Greece to exit the crisis."

The two Commissioners also addressed the 11th Conference of the Greek Tourism Enterprises Association (SETE) on Tourism and Development: Marketing Greece, Promoting the quality side of Modern Greece. EU Commissioner for Industry and Entrepreneurship Tajani also met with Development Minister Kostis Hatzidakis, with talks focusing on new investments.
