Marking the end of the London 2012 Olympics, the city of Olympia presented the city of London with a sculpture, highlighting the Greek origins of the Games.
The four-metre statue of the Greek Goddess of Victory, created by renowned sculptor Angelos Kougioumtzis, was unveiled on September 9 at the Royal Arsenal Riverside in Woolwich. Since 1996, a statue has been presented to each host city, underlining the Greek origins of the Games.
