A new documentary unfolding the history of the Xylouris family, Crete’s leading musical clan, is currently in progress in Greece and Australia. The documentary, A Family Affair, follows the Xylouris family for a period of two years as it travels from their homeland of Anogeia, Crete to Melbourne and back. The 70-minute film, directed by Angeliki Aristomenopoulou, draws an initimate portrait of a family that upholds and passes on the vibrant musical tradition of Cretan music across the world.

The project, which has been financed through Kickstarter, will be ready by the end of 2013 and will hit the big screen in early 2014.
