Since 2007, the European Business Awards promote the most innovative European businesses, "recognising success, innovation and ethics in Europe." Last year, the EBAs engaged with over 24,000 organisations in over 33 countries and participants represented a combined turnover of over €1 trillion (8.23% of EU GDP), employing over 2.7 million people.

Each year, only ten winners are announced as European Public Champions, out of a pool of entries selected as National Public Champions. At the European Business Awards 2014/2015, Olympia Electronics, a Greek business based in Pieria - specialising in lighting systems and security electronics - has the honour of being one of the 33 National Public Champions vying for the European distinction. "We are very pleased with the outcome" says Dimitris Lakassas, President of the Company and head of the Alexandria Innovation Zone in Thessaloniki.

The company has an exports network of 72 countries and has even provided the equipment needed for the lighting of the Opening Ceremony of the 2012 London Olympic Games. The final results will be announced in May 26, in London. Last year’s awards ceremony was held in Athens in May. Greek e- commerce company Skroutz.gr became a European Public Champion.
