In light of the upcoming UK general elections set for 7 May 2015, the Elginism website has published The Parthenon Marbles & the 2015 General Election, a report which examining which UK parties support the return of the Parthenon Sculptures and which don’t.

The report consists of two surveys that present: a) the opinion of MPs in the previous UK parliament as regards the question of the Repatriation of the Parthenon Sculptures, and b) the views of parliamentary candidates from different parties in the upcoming election on the issue.

According to the report’s findings, with the exception of the Conservatives and possibly UKIP, the clear majority of respondents in all other parties support the return of the Parthenon Sculptures – and by a large margin in most cases.

It is noted that although the level of support indicated varies and there is no set party policy on the issue in most parties, the most erratic in responses appear in UKIP.

The Elginism website is run by Matthew Taylor (also treasurer of the Marbles Reunited campaign).
