An important UNESCO international scientific symposium will be hosted on Santorini island, on November 5, 6 and 7. The University of Burgundy, which specialises in the culture and traditions of wine is organising its annual scientific symposium. The topics that will be discussed are the heritage of wine regions, their tourist development, the promotion of wine-growing traditions as well as the relationship between tourism and wine tourism.

The deadline for the submissions of abstracts is May 10. The official languages of the conference are Greek, French and English. During the conference, many parallel events will take place a tour at Santorini’s vineyards, presentations of the grapevine varieties cultivated on the island’s rocky volcanic soils and Santorini’s 3,500-year-old wine-making practices.
