Just a few months before 2016, a year that will celebrate bilateral relations between Russia and Greece, Dean Pericles Mitkas of  Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH) signed a cooperation agreement with the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia; he also renewed a previous agreement with the University of International Relations (MGIMO).

The agreements aim to upgrade existing Greek Studies in Russia and establish new joint programmes, particularly for postgraduate studies in key areas. Furthermore, they will enhance the teaching of the Russian language to students at AUTH and expand partnerships in areas of applied sciences.

The agreements further envisage the organizing of Russian universities’ presentation events at AUTH and the presentation of Aristotle University in Moscow; the organisation of exhibitions in both Moscow and Thessaloniki regarding the history of Greek and Russian language and literature, while Russian experts will participate in an international conference for the celebration of 2,400 years since the birth of Aristotle.
