The Informal Meeting of Ministers for Economic and Financial Affairs (ECOFIN) took place in Riga on April 24-25 and concluded with the common position that there is no other plan except for Greece to remain in the eurozone. Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras contacted German Chancellor Angela Merkel yesterday (26.04), and they agreed to communicate throughout the course of negotiations in order to achieve a mutually beneficial solution. The Greek premier also spoke on the phone with the president of the Eurogroup Jeroen Dijsselbloem.

Greek Finance Minister Yianis Varoufakis said: "I believe we are close to an agreement," in an interview to Euronews on April 25.

A teleconference with the Brussels Group has been scheduled for today, and a meeting will follow on Wednesday (29.04).
