A documentary series hosted by Alastair Sooke, titled Treasures of Ancient Greece, is running on BBC Four as of April 8, celebrating the unique legacy of Greek art, sculpture, philosophy, poetry and theatre, examining the extraordinary afterlife of the Greek masterpieces that changed the course of western culture.

The series consists of three episodes: the origins of Greek art, its riches and unique legacy are explored in the first episode, The Age of Heroes (video); the second episode, The Classical Revolution, focuses on the reasons behind the revolution that gave birth to classical Greek art, and the amazing explosion in architecture, marble sculpting and bronze casting; the Greek masterpieces that changed the course of western culture are explored in the third and final episode, The Long Shadow
