Greek gymnast Eleftherios Petrounias won a gold medal at the 6th European Men's and Women's Artistic Gymnastics Championships, held in Montpellier, France on April 18, after an impressive performance on the rings that earned him 15.866 points and the first place. The silver was shared by French athlete Samir Ait Said and Russia's Denis Abliazin. This was the first European title for the Greek athlete.
At the same event, veteran Greek gymnast Vlasios Maras won the bronze medal on high bar, on Sunday (April 19). Maras received a total of 14,666 points and was beaten by the UK's Sam Oldham with 14,766 in second places and Croatia's Marijo Moznik with 14,833 who won the gold. The bronze medal was the 32-year-old athlete's eighth at a European championship.
