Using parts from super market trolleys, bikes, agricultural equipment, tyres, and other materials found at the bottom of the sea (Thermaic Gulf) in Thessaloniki, art students put it all together composing an open-air art structure which is being showcased at the city’s main square.
It took sixty divers and forty fishing boats to bring the waste on the surface.
"It is a symbolic gesture which will hopefully raise awareness on environmental issues and for that reason deserves our compliments" said the city’s prefect.
The students were amazed by the particularity of the objects found, and local fishermen were pleased to see that their cleaning operations carried out often can be transformed into real art.
