The journey to the Underworld could be an exciting experience, were one to follow Odysseus’ descent to meet the dead prophet Teiresias according to Homer in his Odyssey.

The poem’s description of meandering corridors is identical to those of the Necromanteion ("Death Oracle" for the consultation with the dead) along the Acheron River, in the Preveza prefecture, Epirus, which, the Ancient Greeks believed, lead to the Underworld.
The Central Archaeological Council has decided on the launching of works aimed at preparing the Necromanteion and the nearby archaeological site of the Mycenaean city of Ephyra to be opened to the public.
