What are we? Where do we come from? Where are we going? Has science benefited the humankind? Do inventions have negative effects? Why can’t robots walk like a human? How can stress affect our everyday life? Are electronic payments as convenient, efficient safe and secure as they claim to be? Find out the answers at Athens Science Festival, one of the biggest celebrations of science and technology in Greece that returns for the 4th consecutive year, at Technopolis, Athens under the title: “Shaping our Future”. From March 29 until April 2, young and adult audiences will have the opportunity to dive into the technology of the future: drones, internet of things, virtual reality and robotic cars, amongst many others.

What’s on the programme? Scientists and academics from all over the world like Emmanouil Dermitzakis, Professor of Genetics at University of Geneva Medical School, Clifford Kentros, Professor of Medicine, Kavli Institute for Systems, Govinda Upadhyay, CEO, LED safari SA, Switzerland, Demetrios Matsakis, Chief Scientist for Time Services, U.S. Naval Observatory, Katerina Harvati, Head of Paleoanthropology, Senckenberg Center for Human Evolution and Paleoenvironment, Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen, will deliver thought-provoking lectures. The visitors can also attend interactive exhibitions, screenings, live experiments, art exhibition, “café scientifiques”, contests, documentaries, kids’ labs from the age of 5, performances, science theatre, talks and workshops.

The Athens Science Festival is organized by the educational organization “Science Communication – SciCo”, the British Council, the Onassis Scholars’ Association and the General Secretariat for Research & Technology, in collaboration with various academic, research and educational institutes.
