The General Secretariat for Media and Communication of the Ministry of Digital Policy, Telecommunications and Media, with the assistance of the Press Office of the Embassy of Greece in Stocholm, will collaborate for another year with the Nordic Game International Business Conference held in Malmö, Sweden, from 23 May to 25 May, and supports the mission of five Greek digital game development teams. This collaboration is in the context of the General Secretariat for Information and Communication commitment to the development of Greek audiovisual production with a focus on animation and video games.

Nordic Game is one of the most important games industry events, bringing together professionals from around the world with the Nordic gaming business community, which lists over 8,000 members. Last year’s event attracted more than 2,000 visitors, with 750 companies from 55 countries participating.

The Nordic Game conference is held annually in Malmö, Sweden. The 2018 edition of Nordic Game will take place 23-25 May, at Slagthuset, a venue near Malmö city centre and Copenhagen Airport.

– The promotion of Greek video game production

– The interconnection between domestic and global video games markets

– Investment attraction

– The promotion of Greece and Athens in particular as an entrepreneurial hub in the field of audiovisual production and, more specifically, digital games.

The five Greek teams will take part in the Game Developers Expo, organized each year by Nordic Game to present their games to an international audience, take part in professional meetings with publishers, investors and journalists, and will have the opportunity to attend lectures and workshops by established studios. The five Greek teams are accompanied by the Athens Games Festival, the successful event organised by the GSGE to enhance and promote Greek entrepreneurship in the competitive field of digital games, which will be held for the 2nd year on 20-21 October 2018.

prometheusDuring this year’s Nordic Game, the finals of the Nordic Game Discovery Contest, a contest for the emergence of the best new game, will be held. In the final phase, which will take place on May 23-25, the Greek company Happyland Entertainment will compete, winning a place among the best in the quarterfinals that took place during last year’s Athens Games Festival ’17.
