The needs for migrant integration are greater and more visible both to the Greek public and the international community, and any solutions must rely on limited administrative capacity and significant political will, according to the Migrant Integration Policy Index 2015 (MIPEX) for Greece published on June 8.

The report’s findings rank Greece 27th out of 38 countries participating in MIPEX, and its integration approach is considered “halfway favorable.”

Greece could reach a deal with its international creditors if demands such as further cuts to pensions were dropped, Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras said in an interview with Italian daily Corriere della Sera, published yesterday (June 9). "If Greece fails, the markets will immediately go to look for the next one. Greek Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis met with his German counterpart Wolfgang Schaeuble yesterday (8.06) in Berlin. There were no joint statements following the meeting, though the Greek minister described the meeting as long, productive and held in a friendly climate.

An emblematic figures of Cretan music, Antonis Xylouris – known as Psarantonis- singer, composer and lyra player, contributes to the soundtrack of the awarded movie Loin Des Hommes (Far from men) composed by Nick Cave and Warren Ellis.

The Greek government is expecting feedback on the proposal it has submitted to the EU institutions to continue negotiations on a political level, the government said yesterday.

The Lupimaris - Wolves of the Sea project captures the lifestyle, tradition and maritime adventures of the last fishermen of Paros island as witnessed by Austrian photographer Christian Stemper.


Since 2010, Stemper has photographed 99 Boats and 31 fishermen, offering a historical account of a dying craft, and in 2014 he and his crew began filming in Paros, gathering interviews and photographic material to be used for the LUPIMARIS book and a video documentary.

A teleconference call between the Greek Prime-Minsiter Alexis Tsipras, French President Francois Hollande and German Chancellor Angela Merkel, was held late on Thursday (June 4).
