The decisive role of digital technology in industrial development, communications, economy in general and, by extent, to every aspects of our day-to-day lives will be examined at the Digital economy forum 2018, bearing the tagline “Designing, creating, innovating”. The event is organised by the Federation of Hellenic Information Technology & Communications Enterprises (SEPE), under the auspices of the President of the Hellenic Republic, Prokopios Pavlopoulos. The forum, featuring a long list of distinguished speakers from the world of business and politics in Greece and abroad, will take place on Monday, May 7, 2018, at the Athenaeum InterContinental Hotel in Athens.

Opening remarks will be given, among others, by SEPE’s Director General, Yannis Sirros, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, President of New Democracy and Leader of the Opposition, Yvonne Chiu, Chairman of World Information Technology and Services Alliance (WITSA) and Information Service Industry Association, Taiwan (CISA), Cecilia Bonefeld-Dahl, Director General of DIGITALEUROPE and Kyriakos Triantafyllidis, Partner Development Lead for Europe and North America at the World Economic Forum.

The following six sessions will address issues such as “Openness, investments and financing”, “Digital Greece & E-government” and “The changes to our everyday life”. Speakers include a number of outstanding representatives from the field of industry, innovation and politics, such as Geoffrey R. Pyatt, USA Ambassador to Athens, Guy Krief, CEO of Upstream, Efi Achtsioglou, Minister of Labour, Alexandros Haritsis, Alternate Minister for Economy and Development, Olga Gerovasili, Minister of Administrative Reform, Vassilios Korkidis, President of Hellenic Confederation of Commerce and Entrepreneurship (ESEE), Nikos Pappas, Minister of Digital Policy, Telecommunications and Media and Yannis Theodoropoulos, Executive Vice President at SingularLogic and CEO of SenseOne. The closing event is scheduled to be addressed by the Prime Minister of Greece, Alexis Tsipras.

SEPE, the Federation of Hellenic Information Technology & Communications Enterprises, was founded in 1995 and as a representative for the digital technology industry. The organisations goals include raising public awareness on the importance of contemporary technology and the digital transition taking place in our society, contributing to the modernisation of public administration through the use of digital technologies, developping of a high-speed telecommunications network to assist the current communications infrastructure, representing the interests of the Greek digital technology industry and promoting a close partnership between digital technology companies and the public sector.
