📚📚Ιtaly is the country of honour at the 21st Thessaloniki Book Fair, which will take place on 8-11 May, 2025. Themed ‘Orrizonti Vicini” [Shared Horizons], Italy’s participation will focus on the rediscovery of its proximity to Greece through dialogue, reflection, mutual understanding and the constant stimulation of ideas contained in the world of books.

On this occasion, Reading Greece spoke to the Director of the Italian Cultural Institute of Athens, Francesco Neri, about the scope and program of Italy as the country of honour at the 21st TBF, the appeal of Italian literature in Greece, and the role of cultural institutes in promoting deeper understanding between countries and cultures.

3rd International Professional Program

The International Professional Program of the Thessaloniki Book Fair / Διεθνής Έκθεση Βιβλίου Θεσσαλονίκης, held at the DIALOGOS Rights Center, has now become an established institution. It attracts renowned publishers and literary agents from abroad, offering a strong platform for expanding the international reach of Greek literary production — especially in combination with the relaunch of the GreekLit translation program by the Hellenic Foundation for Books and Culture.

In its third year, the program welcomes 30 publishers and literary agents from 19 countries. An additional 10 international professionals are participating independently, further enriching the global network.

📚📚Under the motto 'Created by HumA(I)ns’, the 21st Thessaloniki Book Fair / Διεθνής Έκθεση Βιβλίου Θεσσαλονίκης will take place from 8-11 May 2025 with Italy as the guest of honour!

Thessaloniki International Book Fair is one of the country's most important and internationally recognized cultural institutions, organized for the first time this year by the Hellenic Foundation for Books and Culture (HFBC), the new book organization. HFBC was founded in 2024 aiming to promote Greek literature in Greece and abroad, focusing on books as an educational, cultural and recreational medium, while promoting Greek culture and the Greek language internationally.
