📌Elias Papadimitrakopoulos, one of Greece’s leading #writers, passed away at the age of 94. A short story writer, or rather a creator of brief narratives, he has published twenty books and received a number of awards and distinctions, most recently from the Academy of Athens for his lifetime work in 2011, as well as the Grand State Letters Award in 2018. Papadimitrakopoulos combines his remarkably subtle gift for precision of language with the profound sensitivity and compassion for his subjects that has made his reputation as a master painter of the triste and ephemeral.Masterfully translated in English by John Taylor, his first two collections of short stories, Toothpaste with Chlorophyll (1973) and Maritime Hot Baths (1980) were first published in a single volume in 1992 and republished in 2020 by Coyote Arts.
