Bodossaki Excellence Award 2024

The Bodossaki Award was established to recognise and promote Greeks who have dedicated their lives to science and have contributed significantly to the advancement of their scientific field through their pioneering, integrated, internationally recognized work. The Bodossaki Excellence Award 2024 is awarded, in the field of Natural Sciences, to Chryssa Kouveliotou, Professor of Astrophysics in the Department of Physics at the Columbian College of Arts and Sciences at George Washington University and, in the field of Biomedical Sciences, to Nektarios Tavernarakis, Professor of Molecular Systems Biology at the University of Crete Medical School, President of the Foundation for Research and Technology-Hellas, and President of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology. The two Bodossaki Excellence Awards will be presented by the President of the Hellenic Republic, Katerina Sakellaropoulou, at a ceremony to be held at the Zappeion Hall on Tuesday 25 June 2024.

A unique find for Minoan archaeology

The excavations currently underway in Crete, at the top of Papoura Hill at an altitude of 494m. In the northwest of the town of Kastelli, revealed a monumental architectural ensemble, in a circular shape, unique for Minoan archaeology, with a diameter of about 48m. It is located at the highest point of the hill, on part of the top of the hill that had been expropriated for the installation of Surveillance Systems (radar) of the new airport. It is a monumental structure of great interest.

University of Athens: the most improved University in Europe and 6th in the world in “Quality Education”

The National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA) received two very important distinctions with the announcement of the results of the QS World University Ranking (QS – Quacquarelli Symonds) and the THE University Impact Rankings (THE – Times Higher Education). A special distinction was awarded to the University of Athens as the Most Improved (Europe award category) for the academic year 2024-2025, according to the QS World University Ranking, while according to the THE University Impact Rankings, the University of Athens is ranked 6th worldwide in “Quality Education” among 1681 universities with an overall score of 87.8/100.

Greece, country of honor at the 41st Poetry Market in Paris

From Wednesday 19 to Sunday 23 June 2024, the 41st Poetry Market (Marché de la Poésie), one of the most important poetry festivals in Europe, will take place in Saint Sulpice in Paris, welcoming thousands of poets, editors and readers every year.
