Greece has announced a three-year roadmap for its National Action Plan on the Safety of Journalists, as presented by Secretary General for Communication and Information, Dimitris Kirmikiroglou, in Bern, at the 4th Annual Meeting of National Focal Point Representatives of the OSCE Programme on the Safety of Journalists and Media Freedom.
The plan introduces key measures to protect media professionals through legal reforms, digital safeguards, training, and international cooperation. Structured around eight strategic pillars, it aims to tackle threats such as violence, surveillance, and abusive lawsuits. Public consultation will begin in May 2026, followed by regional workshops nationwide. This initiative underscores Greece’s commitment to safeguarding press freedom and strengthening a resilient, independent media landscape.

Greece continues to move forward dynamically, expanding its footprint on the international stage with a focus on extroversion, promotion, and the support of Greek creators, as well as fostering connections between contemporary Greek literature and the global publishing world—including authors, translators, publishers, literary agents, and cultural institutions.

Greece’s participation in the 63rd Bologna Children's Book Fair (13-16.4), the Festival du Livre de Paris (17-19.4), and the 37th Sarajevo Book Fair (22-27.4) is being implemented by the Ministry of Culture of Greece, through its Directorate of Letters, in collaboration with the Hellenic Foundation for Books and Culture, and with the support of the Greek Community of Bologna, the Centre for Greek Culture in Paris, the Maison de la Grèce Paris, the organizing committee of the Sarajevo fair, PEN Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as local diplomatic and consular authorities and academic and cultural institutions.
