"OpenAI for Greece" is a new partnership between OpenAI, the Government of the Hellenic Republic, the Ίδρυμα Ωνάση / Onassis Foundation, and Endeavor Greece, to expand access to high-quality AI tools in secondary education and accelerate innovation across Greece’s start-up ecosystem. This partnership establishes Greece as one of the first countries globally to collaborate with OpenAI on such a comprehensive national initiative.

From 11 to 14 November 2025, Greece hosted a training workshop on non-proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction to non-state actors, in line with United Nations Security Council Resolution 1540 (2004).

The workshop, which was attended by 24 participants coming from 8 countries, covered a number of topics relevant to the implementation by UN member states of their obligations stemming from UNSCR 1540; participants also took part in a training exercise, which simulated the boarding and inspection of a ship, in search of radioactive materials.

Greece’s valuable contribution in this regard, as well as the significant role of this initiative, was recognized by all participants, including by the United Nations Office for Disarmament, the representative of which Mr. Christopher King delivered a pre-recorded address.

🇬🇷 🇵🇹 This week Reading Greece pays tribute to Greek-Portuguese literary encounters. Within this framework, Reading Greece spoke to distinguished translator Athena Psillia who has translated more than 45 Portuguese books into Greek, among which a large part of the works of the Nobel laureate José Saramago.

"I believe that my original motive for translating Portuguese literature was exactly that: I was passionate about Portuguese literature and culture, and I needed to share my passion. here are also some very passionate people working in the cultural sectors of both the Embassies of Portugal and Brazil; they have been very resourceful and imaginative with the events they host, and I participate whenever I can."
