The Visit Greece (Greek National Tourism Organization) stand at will host a number of exhibitors including hotels, regions and travel companies from across the country and its islands. On the opening day of WTM, GNTO will hold a networking event including the latest updates and developments in Greece with a forward looking in 2016 by Greek officials and representatives of the trade. Speakers at the event will include Alternate Tourism Minister Elena Kountoura, GNTO Secretary General Panos Livadas.
In 2015 Greece has achieved the highest growth rates in terms of British arrivals and expenditure compared to rival destinations: The latest available data show a 24.9 percent increase in arrivals to 1.8 million in the first eight months of the year, while expenditure rose 33.5 percent to 1.48 billion euros. GNTO believes the growth is attributed to the continued value and unrivaled variety offered by Greece.
The president of the Association of Hellenic Tourism Enterprises (SETE), Andreas Andreadis, says that the early signs from 2016 bookings from Britain are positive, although the sample is too small to deduce any safe conclusions at this stage.
